Background: Northwest Russia Renewable Energy Forum

The Bellona Foundation and Bellona Murmansk are organising the first meeting of the Northwest Russia Renewable Energy Forum in autumn 2008. This one and a half day meeting will be held at the Meridian Hotel, Murmansk, Russia on October 21 – 22, 2008.

The Northwest Russia Renewable Energy Forum is an arena for information exchange, capacity-building, research and innovation, technology and product transfer, as well as investment in renewable energy. The main goals of this first seminar are to disseminate information about the potential for renewable energy on the Kola Peninsula and to remove obstacles (psychological, bureaucratic, economic, technological, and juridical) to implementation of renewable energy in the region.

The Bellona Foundation welcomes renewable energy researchers, companies, power producers, government representatives responsible for energy and industrial development, and environmental NGOs to a seminar.
