Russia’s flagship nuclear icebreaker to cross northern seas, worrying neighboring states
MURMANSK – Russia’s 50 Let Pobedy (Fifty Years of Victory), the flagship of the Russian nuclear icebreaker fleet, departs on January 27 from its port of registration, Murmansk, setting out on a voyage to the Baltic Sea, where it is expected to convoy capsize bulk carriers calling into ports of the Gulf of Finland – a prospect that has Russia’s northern neighbors concerned over the risks of a nuclear vessel passing along their coastlines.

Russia to lease fateful submarine to India
A Russian nuclear submarine in which 20 people died during a 2008 sea trial will be leased to India in mid-November, a source in the Russian defense industry told the RIA Novosti news agency, ending speculation on whether the fateful vessel would be passed on.

Russia says it will dismantle 191 derelict subs by 2010

ST PETERSBURG - Russia’s state-run nuclear power corporation Rosatom will dismantle 191 out of 198 decommissioned nuclear submarines by 2010, a A Rosatom report said Tuesday, according to RIA Novosti.

Russia to build six subs with long-range missiles
