Inter-Parliamentary Working Group (IPWG)

Nils Bøhmer/Bellona

The Inter parliamentary Working Group (IPWG) was established in Brussels in 1998 on the premise that the nuclear legacy was no longer the domestic issue of any one country. The main purpose of the group―of which Bellona is the secretary―is to bring together delegations from the parliaments, administrations and private industry from Russia, the United States, the European Union and Norway. Discussions cover the implementation of international projects, policy priorities, funding and legal roadblocks to progress. Bellona organises but does not set the agenda for topics, which are introduced by delegates. Meetings are held regularly on a rotating basis in participating countries.
