Bellona participates in international CCS projects, and we also perform our own projects. Our ongoing CCS projects are listed below.
Since 1993, Bellona has been a key player in driving the CCS agenda forward in Norway, the EU and beyond. To continue this effort and ensure rapid deployment of environmentally sound CCS, Bellona is now launching the Bellona Environmental CCS Team - BEST, a partnership with leading European energy and technology companies. The first phase of the BEST project will run until 2014. Read more.

The European Technology Platform on Zero Emission Fossil Fuel Power Plants - ZEP - is a project gathering more than 200 experts on Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS). The aim of ZEP is to establish gas and coal power plants with close to zero CO2 emissions. The aim of ZEP is to lay down the foundation for EU CCS policies, and ZEP is therefore of significant importance for the EU strategy to reduce CO2 emissions. The main delivery from ZEP thus far is a road map for how the EU can build 10-12 CCS demonstration projects. The road map has been adapted by the EU as a part of the EU energy and climate policy. Bellona has established a so-called Shadow Group to ensure knowledge- and information-sharing between ZEP and Norwegian CCS stakeholders. The aim of the Shadow Group is to ensure the flow of information to Norwegian actors and to promote the use of Norwegian competence on CCS. This is an open forum, designed for Norwegian corporates and political authorities. Information is continuously exchanged through seminars, meetings and emails, which allow various stakeholders to give inputs on current ZEP projects and agenda. Read more
ECCO is an European research project on CO2 value chains. Bellona is one of 18 partners that will work together to establish recommendations for how to build CCS infrastructures. The project will identify how CO2 sources can be linked with CO2 storage sites. It will also investigate how to deploy early opportunities like CO2 injection for enhanced oil and gas recovery (EOR and EGR). Read more
